If you have not used an architect before, you're not alone! We understand that most people haven't and is important for you to see return on your investment and end up with a design that works for you. You may want to a few ideas to visualise before committing to employing an architect.

  • A visit to your home - or remote call if you are further away - to establish your requirements

  • A couple of sketches (one plan and one 3D) to help you visualise what you want

  • Provide professional feedback on your ideas 

  • Advice on the right options for your requirements and budget

Should I move or extend?

Architect Consultation

This is an age-old question which many prospective clients ask us. If you're not sure whether there is scope to extend or alter your current property before you commit to moving and all of the costs associated with it, we can help.

What we offer:

  • A visit to your home to establish your requirements

  • Suggestions of ideas based on your aspirations and what's possible

  • Provision of ballpark costs of the ideas to compare with your budget, the costs of moving and/or the value of your house

  • Advice on any planning policy issues that may affect your project

  • Advice on buildability, eco building, environmental improvements and energy efficiency measures

Should I buy this plot? Can I build on my peice of land?

Planning Policy Investigation

Whether you've seen a plot online or you already have a bit of land but your not sure if you can get permission for that dream home we've got you.

 

Initially, we suggest that you contact us for an Architect Consultation during which we will look into the relevant planning policy for your project to ascertain if the project has enough viability to move forward into testing a design with the planners.

At this early stage, the planners are only looking at the principle of the development. We are not testing their approval of a specific design with this report but simply establishing whether planning policy would allow development on your site.

What we offer:

  • Preparation and submission of a pre-application report to the local council

  • This application provides the planners with the information they need to make a decision at this early (pre-design) stage

  • This is not a public application so your neighbours cannot see it

  • We help you to understand the feedback from the planners and advise on next steps

  • Only if we had positive feedback from the planners would we start on design work with you which means there would be no abortive work on your project

Can I convert this building?

Conversion Study

We've all driven past redundant barns, derelict commercial premises or even abandoned ecclesiastical buildings that we think could make amazing homes. We can help you decide whether that dream is achievable.

Again, we firstly recommend that you contact us for an Architect Consultation during which we will look into the relevant planning policy and history of the building.

Again, at this stage we are not testing the planners' approval of a specific design with this report but simply establishing whether planning policy would allow the principle of development of your chosen building and what restrictions they may impose on it's conservation.

How can I reduce my energy bills?

Energy Audit

Want to make your home more energy efficient but can't afford a deep retrofit? Or perhaps you've heard conflicting advice on how to implement changes without causing problems. We offer energy efficiency advice following a comprehensive energy audit of your home and/or workplace.

What we offer:

  • Obtaining a quotation for an air pressure test to test how leaky your building is

  • A visit to your home or workplace to discuss any areas of particular concern and establish the nature of the construction of the building

  • Carrying out a thermal imaging survey both during and after the air pressure test 

  • Identification of areas of ventilation losses and other thermal losses

  • Production of a report outlining the findings, our recommendations for improvement and a heirarchy of actions
